The most photographed player in POSSC history reaches the significant milestone of 300 games this weekend. It would be very interesting to see a montage of all the photos Zak's Dad has taken of him over that journey.

There have been many highs that I'll discuss shortly, but it's noteworthy that Zak sustained an ACL injury in awful circumstances approximately 10 years ago but, thankfully, he was able to come back stronger and better than before. Indeed, the vast majority of his A grade appearances have come since returning from that injury.

Zak is a quiet man who mostly lets his boots do the talking. He's an almost ever present at training and would regularly be found practising his free kicks for 20 minutes before training. The practice paid off, with Zak scoring some crucial and spectacular free kicks and long-range bullets over the years. The one for the A's versus Sacred Heart in 2021 on our way to the league title was particularly memorable.

It's no coincidence that Zak has been part of so many trophy winning teams, for the A's, B's and C's. He has an excellent understanding of the game, he's utterly reliable, he has an eye for goal and he'll play whatever role is asked of him. His commitment to the club goes far beyond the playing field as well, as a committee member, having held the thankless task of squads manager for several seasons and, more recently, taking on coaching roles.

Thank you Zak for everything you've given the club, on and off the field. 300 games of itself is a tremendous achievement but you've contributed a whole lot more. I really hope there's at least one more A grade winners medal in store for you, so best of luck in the cup semi-final this weekend!

This is Mildren. Seconds before Zak screams at you with the power of a Greek king's front kick… Has this ever happened to you? If it has he really loves you. The translation from Latin; “you can do better now go fulfil your potential”.

Keeping the theme, Zak is an absolute warrior on the pitch and for reaching this milestone I couldn't be more proud. He has been a dominant force in the middle of the park cruising around scoring, assisting and shutting the other team down. However I don't know if I've ever seen him sprint, but that could just be good positioning.

While I haven't often shared the old scholars field which is largely my fault (I was running late / I didn't hear my alarm / I was sick / oooo not really feeling it today sorry coach), I am lucky enough to consider him one of my oldest friends and so we have shared in dynasty levels of futsal success. I know firsthand the passion and power hidden in those little chicken legs. I look forward to getting back on the green with you soon brother. Go well in your game and score a banger.

Zak is an ever-present stalwart of the club. A reliable and versatile midfielder who will always give his all at training and in games. Known for his searing long balls, probing passes and thunderous strikes from distance, Zak has racked up a very impressive 40 goals in 95 games since 2014 in the Bs (sorry Zak, that's all the stats I have available to me). Seemingly aging like fine wine, last season saw him pick up the Bs best and fairest medal and top scorer with 6 goals in 15 games (please ignore the fact that our top scorer had 6 goals, and please don't sack me).

Zak's other achievements throughout his time at POSSC include being the first squads manager (trust me, this deserved a medal), winning back to back championships in the Bs (including his stellar 2015 season in which he scored 13 in 18 games from midfield) and coming on for the As in their first cup game last season against Westminster and assisting 3 goals to help win the game (and eventually the cup).

Congratulations Zak on 200 games, hopefully you can score another beautiful free-kick against Rostrevor to kick off the next 100.
